A.K.A. Kent Academy, Providence Conference Seminary, East Greenwich Seminary and East Greenwich Academy
Folded this brochure is only 3" by 5 1/2". Although this was usually called "East Greenwich Academy," the East was dropped at this date and reinstated later. Rev. F. D. Blakeslee was the principal. The location on the shore of Narragansett Bay is compared to the Bay of Naples. Along the left edge someone wrote, "This is splendid place to go to school." "Our students almost universally leave school in better health than when they entered"

"All of the buildings are heated with steam and lighted with gas, a very important item, reducing to a minimum the risk of fire,..."
"Religious: Services are held each morning in the chapel ...."

"Co-Education: After several years' experience and a wide field of observation we are very decidedly in favor of the education of our young people of both sexes in the same school,..."

Expenses of Extra Studies, such as Fine Arts, Music, and Commercial. The calendar for 1880-81 shows four terms.

An 1890 advertisement when the Principal was Rev. F. D. Blakeslee, D.D.

Of interest are the fact that there are only 12 teachers and "Special Attention Given to Manners and Morals," as well as the three term school year.
